![]() GENERAL GEOLOGY Geohazard (volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, etc.) posters and other displays of geologic phenomena are on display throughout the Museum. A large geologic map of the State of California illustrates the States complex surface geology. A satellite image of southern California highlights major faults, topographic features, and mans impact on the landscape. Posters show the role of plate tectonics in the formation of California. The Museum exhibits outstanding colorful and educational rock and mineral displays. On display, are locally found specimens. Minerals from locations worldwide also make up the approximately 75 specimens on display. Click on any image to learn more about Rocks, Minerals, Petrified Wood and Plant Fossils.
